Slate’s electric pickup truck is the antithesis of the Tesla Cybertruck – light, affordable, and basic, unlike the Cybertruck’s heavy, expensive, and tech-loaded profile. The Slate’s body is made from injection-molded polypropylene composite material, similar to Saturn’s body panels 40 years ago. This material is virtually indestructible and gray throughout, so scratches won’t show. The lack of a paint shop reduces production costs, though wraps will be available as an option.

Slate will sell directly to consumers, with pre-orders available for $50 and deliveries starting late 2026. The base price is expected to be around $27,500, potentially under $20,000 with federal EV tax incentives.
