Stellantis’ Vision for Intelligent Vehicles
The automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the integration of advanced software and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Stellantis, a leading automotive company, is at the forefront of this revolution, investing over €50 billion in electrification and software development. The company’s comprehensive software strategy aims to create stronger bonds between its iconic brands and customers, enabling greater personalization and enhancing the overall ownership experience.
Transforming to a Mobility Tech Company
Stellantis is deploying three new AI-powered technology platforms across its four global vehicle platforms, starting in 2024. This move is part of the company’s broader strategy to become a leading sustainable mobility tech company. The new platforms will be designed to continuously evolve, with the ability to add new features or upgrade existing ones over the air.
STLA Brain: The Heart of the Transformation
The STLA Brain is a new electrical/electronic (E/E) and software architecture that enables the creation and deployment of features and services more rapidly through over-the-air (OTA) updates. This service-oriented architecture is fully cloud-integrated, disconnecting the hardware and software cycles. In 2022, Stellantis partnered with Amazon to support the “always connected” nature of its platform with Amazon’s leading cloud solutions.

STLA SmartCockpit: Enhancing the In-Vehicle Experience
The STLA SmartCockpit, built on top of the STLA Brain, will seamlessly integrate with the digital lives of vehicle occupants, transforming the vehicle into a personalized living space. Powered by the Mobile Drive joint venture between Stellantis and Foxconn, the STLA SmartCockpit will use AI-based applications to deliver a rich array of features and services, including navigation, voice assistance, and e-commerce marketplace.
Imagine commanding your vehicle to park with just a glance at an open space and confirming your choice with a nod of your head. The STLA SmartCockpit will also offer augmented reality capabilities, such as identifying famous monuments or constellations through the vehicle’s windows.
STLA AutoDrive: Advancing Autonomous Driving
Developed in partnership with BMW, STLA AutoDrive will offer Level 2, 2+, and 3 autonomous driving capabilities, continuously upgradable through OTA updates. Stellantis is also researching Level 3 and 4 solutions, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of autonomous driving technology.
Enhancing Customer Experience and Safety
These technologies will enable Stellantis to transform its mobility solutions, making them more customer-centric and connected. Features like the Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS) and MyTasks, an in-vehicle task management tool for commercial vehicles, will enhance safety and simplify fleet management.
As Stellantis continues to innovate and invest in software and AI technology, the company is poised to revolutionize the automotive industry, creating a more personalized, connected, and safe driving experience for its customers.
