Japanese automaker Suzuki has confirmed that its first fully electric vehicle (EV), the e Vitara, will be available in Australia during the first quarter of 2026. This announcement comes less than a year after the e Vitara was unveiled at an event in Milan in November 2024. Suzuki has revealed that the e Vitara will embody the “essence” of the “Emotional Versatile Cruiser” through its sleek design. The electric powertrain features a highly efficient eAxle that integrates both the motor and inverter, powered by lithium iron-phosphate batteries. It will also offer an electric four-wheel-drive system designed to provide both off-road capability and powerful performance.

According to Michael Pachota, general manager of Suzuki Australia’s automotive division, “The e Vitara is our bold step into the future of mobility. It delivers on everything Suzuki drivers expect, including reliability, capability, and value, and now zero-emissions performance.” The e Vitara was initially announced with dimensions measuring 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, capable of seating five passengers. The new Suzuki SUV will be available in three variants: a two-wheel-drive model with a 49kWh battery capacity, another two-wheel-drive version with a 61kWh battery capacity, and a top-of-the-line four-wheel-drive model with a 61kWh battery.

The base two-wheel-drive model is expected to produce 106kW from its front motor with a maximum torque of 189Nm, while the more powerful two-wheel-drive version will output 128kW. The four-wheel-drive variant will feature front and rear motors combining for 135kW of power and 300Nm of maximum torque. Although Suzuki hasn’t officially announced the range for these variants, several outlets have predicted that the base model will achieve around 400 kilometers. Suzuki Australia acknowledged the lack of detail regarding features, specifications, and release dates for the Australian market, stating that more information will be provided later.

Recently, Suzuki announced UK pricing for the e Vitara, ranging from £29,999 (approximately $A63,000) for the 49kWh Motion 2WD model to £37,799 ($A79,000) for the top-of-the-line model. However, these prices are subject to change when the official Australian launch is made.
