Teen Identified in Fatal East Side Pickup Truck Accident
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 15-year-old boy who died after falling from the bed of a pickup truck on San Antonio’s East Side. Deon Joseph succumbed to cranial cerebral injuries, according to the medical examiner’s office, with his death ruled an accident.
The incident occurred on Sunday, May 25, at approximately 5:10 p.m. at the Wheatley Heights Sports Complex on Upland Drive. San Antonio police and park police responded to the scene after a 911 call reported a teen falling from a vehicle. A juvenile female was driving a black 2019 Dodge Ram with four teenagers in the truck bed when Joseph fell out. The driver remained at the scene until emergency services arrived but departed before police could obtain a statement.
Joseph was pronounced dead at the scene. Police subsequently located the vehicle and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The San Antonio Police Department is investigating this incident as an accidental death. The case remains under active investigation as authorities gather more details about the events leading up to the fatal accident.
