A 13-year-old male is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup truck while riding a hoverboard in Trenton on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of Dundas and Front streets just before 4 p.m., according to authorities. Quinte West OPP and Hastings-Quinte Paramedics responded quickly to the scene. Initial investigations suggest the teenager was operating the hoverboard in the crosswalk when he was hit by the turning pickup truck. Fortunately, an off-duty doctor was in the vicinity and provided immediate assistance to the young person before paramedics arrived. The teenager was transported to the hospital and later transferred to a regional trauma centre for further treatment. The Quinte West OPP is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
