Elon Musk is dropping more hints about Tesla’s plans to broaden its vehicle lineup with a new, bigger model.
Currently, the Model X is the only Tesla vehicle designed for families bigger than four, offering three rows and seating for up to seven people. However, the Model X is an older model that hasn’t had a major update recently.
The Model Y can also seat seven, but the third row is more cramped than the Model X. Although Tesla is focused on developing self-driving capabilities, there’s still demand for vehicles that can be driven by people. This will likely remain the case until Tesla’s self-driving technology is perfected.
At the “We, Robot” event in October, Tesla showcased the Robovan. This vehicle, still without an official name, is designed to carry large groups, sports teams, or even serve as a cargo hauler.
Despite the Robovan, many Tesla enthusiasts are hoping for something new. Musk continues to provide hints about what’s coming:
That’s great to see! Tesla Robovan is in development. Some other things too.

Musk confirmed that Tesla is working on “some other things” besides the Robovan, which is good news for families needing more than seven seats.
He offered another clue about a larger vehicle:

It appears that something is indeed in the works. Tesla has announced it will introduce new vehicles sometime in the first half of next year, focusing on affordability. These hints might point to an additional offering, beyond the Robovan, that caters to larger families and groups.
