The Vancouver International Auto Show removed Tesla (TSLA.O) from its event this week, citing safety concerns, organizers announced Thursday.
“The Vancouver International Auto Show has removed Tesla as a participant in this week’s event, after the automaker was provided multiple opportunities to voluntarily withdraw,” said Eric Nicholl, executive director for the auto show.
Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The safety concerns arose amid protests in the United States targeting Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk.
“The Vancouver Auto Show’s primary concern is the safety of attendees, exhibitors, and staff,” Nicholl stated.
Separately, Toronto recently ceased providing financial incentives for Tesla vehicles used as taxis or ride-shares, citing growing trade tensions between Canada and the United States. The city’s mayor indicated the move was intended to target Musk, who is a close advisor to the U.S. president, who has proposed Canada’s annexation and imposed tariffs on Canadian goods.
On Thursday, Tesla also recalled nearly all of its Cybertrucks in the U.S. to address a potential issue with an exterior panel that may detach while the vehicle is in motion.
