Tesla CEO Elon Musk continued his tradition of revealing “one more thing” at his events by showcasing the new Robovan on Thursday night, following the introduction of the Robotaxi, or Cybercab. The Robovan is a fully autonomous vehicle designed for mass transit use cases, featuring modular seating that can accommodate up to 20 people. According to Musk, the vehicle can also be transformed into a cargo van, making it suitable for applications “from mass transit to construction to food service,” as stated on Tesla’s website. While details about the Robovan are currently limited, Musk assured that the production version will retain its current design, which boasts a unique, steampunk-inspired aesthetic. Given Musk’s success in maintaining the original design of the Cybertruck during production, it’s likely that the Robovan will also remain true to its unveiled form.
