The Goodwood Members’ Meeting: A Haven for Vintage Car Enthusiasts
The Goodwood Members’ Meeting is renowned for its vintage car sales, attracting true motor aficionados. Partnering with Bonhams Cars, Goodwood kicked off the 2025 season with its 82nd Members’ Meeting sale in mid-April. The event showcased an eclectic range of vehicles, many with fascinating histories.
Star-Studded Sales
Several cars with celebrity provenance caught the attention of buyers. A 1972 Mercedes-Benz 600 Saloon, originally purchased by actor Jack Nicholson, sold for £126,500. This opulent vehicle featured Bordeaux Red bodywork and a Cognac leather interior, boasting air suspension and a 6.3-liter V8 engine.

A 1975 Ferrari 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer, first owned by Eric Clapton, was another highlight. Clapton reportedly ordered the car after seeing George Harrison’s similar vehicle. Despite being involved in an accident shortly after purchase, the Ferrari sold for £178,250.

Other notable sales included a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC Coupé for £402,000 and a 1973 Ford Capri 3.0 GXL Group 1 Competition Coupé for £80,500. The latter had a distinguished racing history, driven by Prince Michael of Kent and Formula 1 champion Niki Lauda.
Affordable Classics
For those on a budget, a 1990 Renault 5 GT Turbo was available for £26,450. This ‘hot hatch’ is rapidly rising in value due to nostalgia for 1990s cars.
Goodwood and Bonhams have already announced the next sale at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, featuring a rare 2007 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Coupé with only 770 kilometers on the clock.
The Goodwood Members’ Meeting continues to be a premier event for vintage car enthusiasts, offering a unique opportunity to purchase historic vehicles with intriguing stories.
