Ram TRX: Back from the Brink for 2026?
Recent reports suggest that the Ram 1500 TRX, originally slated for discontinuation at the end of the 2024 model year, is making a comeback for 2026. Ram appears to have adjusted its plans and reassessed its priorities, clearing the path for the TRX’s return.
While the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, which was expected to replace the TRX, is a capable truck in its own right, its turbocharged inline-six engine simply can’t deliver the raw power and distinctive growl of the TRX’s supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. If the new TRX adheres to its predecessor’s design, expect a long-travel suspension capable of absorbing the impacts of off-road driving without becoming unstable on pavement.

The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, which was expected to replace the TRX, still packs a punch.
The TRX’s cabin is expected to incorporate the same technology and luxurious features found in Ram’s other high-end truck trims, with perhaps some unique touches. Similar to previous models, the TRX will likely be sold exclusively in a crew cab with a short-box body style, accommodating five passengers.
What’s New for 2026?
It’s highly probable that the reborn TRX will boast even more power than before. The new TRX is expected to adopt the Redeye version of Stellantis’ Hellcat V-8, generating 797 horsepower, which would give the new TRX a significant power boost of 95 horses. The entire vehicle’s appearance may undergo some subtle changes, but nothing too drastic. During the TRX’s temporary absence, Ram updated the 1500 lineup with minor styling upgrades, including lighting elements, wheel designs, a refreshed color palette, and several updates to the interior, such as the option for a passenger-side display. This section will be updated when it’s clearer how the TRX will incorporate these updates.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The starting price for the 2026 Ram 1500 TRX is estimated to be around $99,000.
TRX $99,000 (est.)
The TRX has always been a pricey option, but for those who value off-road performance, it presents a relative bargain. Since Ram and its sister company, Dodge, are known for special editions it’s almost certain that a limited edition will be released to celebrate the TRX’s triumphant return. Pricing details are not yet available, but this section will be updated with all the pricing information, as well as our preferred configuration, when it is released.
