LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a traffic accident on State Road 20 Friday morning.
According to a news release, a tractor-trailer driven by a 45-year-old man from Manchester, Pennsylvania, was traveling east in the outside lane of State Road 20, approaching the intersection of NW County Road 12. The traffic light for eastbound and westbound traffic on State Road 20 had turned red.
A 31-year-old man from Bristol, Florida, driving a pickup truck, had a green light to proceed north. As he began to travel through the intersection, the tractor-trailer entered after the light had changed to red.
As a result, the front of the pickup truck collided with the passenger side of the tractor-trailer. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to overturn, spilling its cargo of pine tree logs onto the eastbound lanes of State Road 20.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were sustained in the crash. State Road 20 has since been reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol received assistance at the scene from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and Liberty County EMS.
