Transit Vans: The Key to Ford’s Future
It’s hard to imagine a more appropriate setting for Jim Farley, Ford’s boss, to discuss his company’s future than inside one of its vehicles. Farley, whose driving skills have been sharpened racing Ford Mustangs in his spare time, projects the same confidence answering questions as he does piloting a Transit van down a winding Austrian mountain road.
The three-day road trip in late August, from Ford’s European headquarters in Germany to Italy, involved a convoy of four Transits. Farley arranged the trip to get an in-depth assessment of one of the company’s top-selling vehicles. The trip also offered an opportunity to meet with dealers and customers.
