Fatal Collision near Yellowstone National Park
A devastating collision between a pickup truck and a tour van occurred near Yellowstone National Park on Thursday, May 1, 2025, resulting in seven fatalities. According to Idaho State Police, the Dodge Ram pickup truck crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 20 and struck the Mercedes passenger van.

The crash happened near Henry’s Lake State Park in eastern Idaho, approximately 16 miles west of Yellowstone National Park. The pickup truck, traveling west, crossed into the eastbound lane where it collided with the van. Both vehicles caught fire following the impact.
The tour van was carrying a group of twelve Chinese tourists, one Italian tourist, and their driver. Five Chinese tourists, the Italian tourist, and the pickup truck driver, identified as 25-year-old Isaih Moreno from Humble, Texas, died in the crash. DNA tests will be required to identify the other victims.
Eight people in the van survived with injuries. The Idaho State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also conducting an independent investigation due to the involvement of a commercial vehicle and the severity of the crash.
The incident has highlighted the importance of road safety, particularly in areas popular with tourists like Yellowstone National Park. According to recent data from the International Trade Administration, 36% of international visitors to the U.S. list visiting national parks and monuments as their top leisure activity.
