Two Die After Electric Car Plunges into Woodridge Home
WOODRIDGE, IL – Two individuals lost their lives Sunday evening when an electric car careened down a residential street in southwest suburban Woodridge, Illinois, slammed into a house, and subsequently burst into flames. The incident, which occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the 2400 block of Kildeer, prompted a swift response from local authorities, the Village of Woodridge reported in a press release.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the vehicle had collided with the residence, with both the car and a portion of the house engulfed in fire, officials confirmed.
Surveillance footage captured by a nearby resident appears to show the moments leading up to the tragic event. The video reveals a car traveling at a high rate of speed down the street, accompanied by the screeching of tires. Shortly thereafter, several loud impacts were heard. Additional video documented the aftermath, displaying a car having crashed into the building, completely consumed by flames.
Photos taken at the scene show the car was destroyed, with wreckage from the crash spread across the yard and strewn in the street. Despite the severity of the incident, no one inside the home was injured. Woodridge officials announced that the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
