A devastating road accident occurred at Kodimatha in Kottayam on Monday midnight, claiming two lives and injuring five others. The collision took place near the Manipuzha bridge when a jeep carrying several passengers collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck.
The deceased were identified as Jaimon Joseph (43) and Arjun (19), both from Kollad. The impact was severe, with the jeep bearing the brunt of the crash. Three other passengers in the jeep suffered injuries, one of whom is reportedly in critical condition. All the injured are currently receiving treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kottayam.
Residents and passersby were the first to respond to the accident, carrying out initial rescue efforts. Fire and rescue personnel later arrived at the scene and recovered Jaimon Joseph’s body from the mangled jeep. The two occupants of the pickup truck escaped with minor injuries.
The accident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the potential dangers on the roads in the region.
