Volkswagen has a long history of producing practical, budget-friendly cars, from the Beetle to the Golf. Now, the company is setting its sights on the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the ID. EVERY1. This concept car is slated for production in 2027, with a target price of €20,000 (approximately $21,667 USD).

Volkswagen’s CEO of Passenger Cars, Thomas Schäfer, has hailed the ID. EVERY1 as an “affordable entry-level all-electric mobility” option. The vehicle is expected to generate 94 horsepower and provide a range of 155 miles. Andreas Mindt, Volkswagen’s Head of Design, stated that the car’s design seeks to strike a balance between boldness and approachability. “The ID EVERY1 has a self-assured appearance but remains likeable – thanks to details such as the dynamic front lights and the ‘smiling’ rear. These design elements make it more than just a car: they give it character and an identity that people can relate to.”
A key question for potential U.S. buyers is whether that €20,000 price tag will remain constant in 2027, considering prevailing trade dynamics. Unfortunately for American consumers, VW has, at this time, announced no plans to bring this accessible EV to the U.S. market. Hopefully, the situation will change.
