Volvo ES90 Electric Sedan: A Glimpse into the Future
Volvo Cars is gearing up to present its all-new ES90 electric sedan on March 5, 2025. Following in the footsteps of the EX90, the ES90 will utilize Volvo’s Superset tech stack, a combined hardware and software platform designed for future electric models. This approach promises advancements in safety, performance, and technology.

This marks the first Volvo model equipped with a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin configuration. This setup significantly boosts core computing power, which is key for managing AI-driven safety features, sensor data, and battery management. This cutting-edge technology is set to make the ES90 one of the most technologically advanced cars on the road.
The ES90’s foundation rests on the SPA2 architecture, and the Superset tech stack allows for rapid implementation of improvements via over-the-air updates. These enhancements can cover a range of areas like connectivity, safety enhancements, and optimized battery range based on driver behaviors.
The ES90 is packed with advanced safety technologies, including a driver understanding system and a network of sensors. These include one lidar, five radars, eight cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. These systems work together to identify potential obstacles and trigger safety measures such as collision avoidance. The EX90 models will also receive an upgrade to incorporate the dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin setup.
Volvo is focusing engineering efforts on creating exceptional cars that progressively improve over time. Combining robust computing with the Superset tech stack allows for the development of safer cars with greater efficiency. This comes after Volvo’s impressive financial results in 2024.
