Volvo Launches All-Electric ES90 Saloon
Volvo has revealed its inaugural all-electric saloon, the ES90, marking a significant step in the brand’s transition to electric vehicles. The new model is set to challenge established competitors such as the BMW i5 in the luxury EV market.

The ES90 represents a departure from Volvo’s traditional focus on SUVs and signifies a strategic move into the rapidly growing electric saloon segment.
Performance and Range
The ES90 offers impressive performance figures. The base model features a 328bhp rear-wheel-drive setup, while the more powerful twin-motor versions deliver up to 671bhp. According to reports, the high-performance variant can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in a brisk 4.0 seconds, with all models electronically limited to a top speed of 112mph.

With a maximum range of up to 434 miles, depending on the battery configuration, the ES90 positions itself as a strong contender in the electric vehicle market. The vehicle is built on Volvo’s advanced SPA2 architecture and incorporates 800-volt charging technology, which allows for rapid charging speeds, adding up to 186 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Consumers can choose from two battery options: an 88kWh battery for the single-motor model, and a larger 102kWh battery for the twin-motor versions.
Advanced Technology and Features
The ES90 is equipped with cutting-edge computing technology, featuring dual Nvidia Orin processors. This system is capable of processing 508 trillion operations per second, supporting Volvo’s comprehensive suite of active safety features and enabling over-the-air software updates.
The car’s software-defined vehicle approach supports ongoing enhancements to its systems, including battery management and sensor technology. Designed with passenger comfort in mind, the ES90 features a dual-chamber air suspension and adaptive dampers, contributing to a refined driving experience. Volvo claims that the car’s cabin will offer the quietest ride ever produced by the brand.
