I’m not an electric car enthusiast, but I recently purchased one anyway. Most electric vehicles are good, and some exceptional ones are made by premium brands like Audi, BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz. These manufacturers successfully infuse their brand attributes into their electric models. For instance, an electric Mercedes-Benz retains the characteristics that make it a Mercedes-Benz.
For those who view driving as merely a means to an end, electric cars can be an ideal choice. They offer convenience and practicality, much like household appliances. My decision to buy an electric car was influenced by its design and functionality. I opted for a Kia EV6, drawn to its appearance and hatchback design. The convenience of not visiting gas stations was an added bonus.
The Kia EV6 works well for my family. With moderate use, a 90% charge lasts about two weeks, translating to a 250-mile range. However, I’m not fond of the recommendation to not charge the car to 100%, as it seems contradictory to the advertised maximum range.
The Kia EV6 has an SUV-like feel but isn’t as bulky as most SUVs. Its height is ‘just right’ for my wife and me, being higher than a sedan but lower than a compact SUV like a Honda CR-V. For those considering an electric car to avoid gas stations, it’s a great choice if you can charge at home. Over 80% of U.S. electric car owners charge their vehicles at home, according to the International Energy Agency.
My experience led me to conclude that electric cars are practical. Maybe one would work for you too. It’s worth taking one for a test drive.
