GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – A 66-year-old woman died Monday morning in Grand Junction after being struck by a pickup truck. According to the Colorado State Patrol, a high school student was driving the vehicle.
The fatal collision occurred just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Warrior Way and E 1/2 Road. The location is near a Walmart and Central High School.
“[The victim] was on the north side of the street crossing the intersection traveling east. A pickup truck heading north on Warrior Way, driven by a male high school student, went through the intersection, striking the female,” the Colorado State Patrol stated in a news release.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of this report, the right-of-way status and potential charges against the driver remain unclear. The State Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances of the crash.
