Woman Seriously Injured in Walterboro Auto-Pedestrian Collision
WALTERBORO, S.C. – A woman sustained serious injuries in an auto-pedestrian collision in Walterboro, according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue. The incident occurred on Charleston Highway at the intersection of Sandy Dam Lane on Sunday evening.
Reports indicate the accident happened around 9:10 p.m. The woman, wearing dark clothing, was struck in an area with inadequate street lighting. The driver of the pickup truck involved stopped and offered assistance, officials said.
Firefighter-paramedics found the woman lying in a ditch near the wood line after the collision. She reported multiple injuries and received initial treatment at the scene. Fire-Rescue Medic 19 transported her to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center.
The driver of the truck was not harmed. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
