Xpeng’s Land Aircraft Carrier: A Glimpse into the Future at CES 2025
Prepare to witness the future of transportation. Xpeng AeroHT is bringing its Land Aircraft Carrier to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. This isn’t just a car; it’s a modular vehicle combining an electric minivan with a large electric drone. Forget what you think you know about flying cars; this is something entirely new.
The Land Aircraft Carrier concept comprises two distinct vehicles: the six-wheeled “Mothership” and the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) drone.
The Mothership is an extended-range electric minivan. It includes a combustion engine to power the car’s battery and electric motors, also providing charging for the drone.
Xpeng AeroHT is making it clear that they are actively working on flying vehicle technology.
The drone can seat two people and is deployed via a button. The rotor arms unfold after it exits the van. The pilot can control the drone from inside the cockpit or remotely.
According to Xpeng, the six-rotor eVTOL aircraft’s single-lever control system makes it easy to fly. It purportedly takes just five minutes to learn and three hours to master. The battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes, supporting five to six flights, although flight duration isn’t specified.
Production and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026, with a planned output of 10,000 units annually. The Land Aircraft Carrier will retail for up to $280,000 (2 million yuan) in China. The company has already secured over 2,000 pre-orders.
This concept offers a compelling vision for the future of personal transportation. While its arrival in other markets remains uncertain, its presence at CES 2025 suggests Xpeng is moving forward. It will be interesting to witness further developments.
