Yangwang, the ultra-luxury brand under BYD, has proudly announced the delivery of its 10,000th vehicle, marking a significant achievement for the brand that has recently entered the super premium car segment. The milestone was celebrated with the handover of the 10,000th unit to Yu Minhong, founder of New Oriental education group, who was presented with the key to a Yangwang U8 luxury off-road SUV by Hu Xiaoqing, head of Yangwang’s sales.
Yangwang was launched on January 5, 2023, with ambitious plans to challenge the ultra-luxury car market, with prices starting from 1 million yuan (approximately IDR 2.3 billion). The brand’s first model, the U8 SUV, was introduced on September 20, 2023, at a price of 1.098 million yuan, garnering attention for its futuristic design and impressive electric performance. This was followed by the launch of the U9, a two-seater electric supercar priced at 1.68 million yuan, on February 25, 2024, further solidifying Yangwang’s presence in the high-performance luxury car market. In March, the brand expanded its product line with the U7 sedan, priced from 628,000 yuan, demonstrating a strategy of model diversification to cater to different consumer preferences.
Yangwang’s models are built on the e4 exclusive technology platform, powered by four electric motors. This technological backbone underscores BYD’s commitment to innovation in electric vehicle technology. The brand is set to unveil its latest model, the U8L, at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show 2025, hinting at continued expansion in the luxury electric vehicle segment.
